  5. Allow Microsoft Outlook app to access your account’s information. Scroll down and tap Yes (Or Allow if you used a Gmail address).

Work with drafted messages

Outlook automatically saves your message while you are creating it and adding it to your Drafts. If you stop writing — deliberately or accidentally — the message will remain in the Drafts folder until you resume working on it or delete it.

  1. Under Folders, choose Drafts.

  2. Choose the draft message you want to resume writing, and choose Send when you’re done.

Note: If you decide not to send your message, choose Discard.

Sign up a new account with a few easy steps.

  2. Enter some of your personal information in the blank including your full name, birthdate. You can use email addresses from other email services for your user name, or create a new one by clicking Get a new email address.

  3. Select your Gender. Enter your phone number (Phone number can also be used to sign in). Enter the characters you see in the picture to verify that you are not a robot. You can choose New for another string or Audio for audible aid.

  4. Click “Create Account”. If you fill any field incorrectly, Outlook will show you an error message to help you complete the registration. Wait a few seconds to get your Inbox ready.

Outlook is a personal information manager from Microsoft, available as part of the Office suite. Although Outlook is mainly used as an email application, it also includes a calendar, task manager, and contact manager. Outlook has a web version at:, a stand-alone application for PC and also a mobile app for iOS and Android devices.

The current Outlook version 16 is bundled with Microsoft Office 2016, which was released in September, 2015.

1. Create a Microsoft account

  1. Go to Outlook on web. You will be asked to sign in.
  2. Click on Create one.
  3. Provide your information as required including your full name, birthday, gender, phone number, email address (this will be used as your username to log in to Microsoft services, you can create a new one as an Outlook email by choosing Get a new email address).
  4. Click Create account when done.

3. Feature

What makes Outlook such a great tool for enterprise-level collaboration is that it has all the productivity features packed into one unified application and everything can be shared, with settings for levels of permissions for each user.

A. Email

Outlook is mostly used as an email application and it is similar to all other email services. Users can use Outlook as their main email account or use it as a third-party app to manage their emails from all other services such as Gmail, Yahoo Mail…, all in one place, eliminating the needs to switch between multiple accounts. Other features can be accessed by clicking the menu button on the top left.

B. Calendar

Outlook Calendar has a similar interface to Windows 10’s Calendar app and it supports files from other calendaring services for users to import their calendar entries into Outlook. It features daily, weekly, monthly and agenda view modes. It also features a to-do list function for users to keep track of their tasks. Multiple calendars can be created and shared, allowing different levels of permissions for each user. Microsoft also add a weather forecast directly in the Calendar.

C. People

Outlook People is the contact manager component of Outlook. Contacts can be added, as well as imported from many other social media such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn… Users can also sort and put contacts into folders for easier management. For example, a folder for people from work, a folder for family, and so on. Outlook People allows users to link one person’s accounts from multiple sources (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Gmail, Yahoo…) to one unified profile containing all the contact information of that person.

D. Tasks

Outlook also provides a built-in to-do list. Users can create tasks, categorizing them into folders. Outlook Tasks provides the user with fields such as subject, start and end dates, percent complete, priority, and how much work was put into each task. Rich editing features like bold, italic, underline, numbering, and bullet points were also introduced. Tasks can also be assigned to others by sending them as emails, all done within Outlook.

E. Skype integration

Skype is integrated into Outlook, users are able to access their Skype’s contacts, conversations, and make calls from within Outlook without Skype’s desktop client. To access, simply click on the Skype icon on the top right.

Reply, reply all or forward an email with Outlook

When you receive an email message, you can respond to it by choosing one of these actions: Reply or Reply All, or Forward it to others.

  1. With the email open in the reading pane, choose the down arrow next to Reply all, and then choose Reply, Reply all, or Forward.

Notes: If you’re forwarding an email, enter names in the To and Cc boxes, as applicable.

  1. If the original email contains an attachment, Reply and Reply all won’t include the attachment. If you choose Forward, the original message and any attachments will be included.
  2. Type your response, and then choose Send.

Tips about using reply, reply all, and forward

    When you reply to a message, the title will be changed to RE: added to the subject line. The original message is added below the new message.

    Attachments to the original message aren’t included when replying.

    • Forward
      When you forward a message, the prefix FW: is added to the subject line to alert the recipient they’re receiving a forwarded message. The original message is included in the forwarded message, along with any attachments to the original message. You can edit the text of a forwarded message or add and remove any attachments before you send.
    • When replying to or forwarding an email message, you can change the subject line of the message. Simply delete the existing subject line, and type the new one.

With Outlook, you have another option. If you store files on an online storage service such as Dropbox, Box, Google Drive or even Facebook, you can attach those files to your email messages on Outlook. We will take you through a few steps to do so.

  1. Go to your Inbox on
  2. Click on the gear icon in the top right, choose Options.

  3. On the left pane, click Mail > Attachment options > Storage accounts.

  4. Choose the storage service you’re using to store your files.

  5. A window will pop up, asking you to log in to that site. Please log in. If you’ve already logged in, Outlook will ask for permission to access your files.

  6. Click Allow when asked for permission to access the files.

Your storage account is now connected to Outlook; you can attach files from there to your email messages or calendar events.
